Frequently asked questions
What is filterslop, and how does it filter YouTube?
filterslop is a Chrome extension that removes clickbait, filler and other unwanted videos from your YouTube home feed and recommendations. It checks video titles, thumbnails and other visible details against your goals, chosen topics and custom filters. Removed videos remain available to review and restore.
What does filterslop count as YouTube slop?
filterslop looks for signs of clickbait, padded videos, reused clips, short-lived drama, rage bait and claims with weak sourcing. Your goals and selected topics also shape what gets filtered. Genre alone is not a reason to remove a video, so comedy, gaming and music can stay when they fit your preferences. Filtering can make mistakes, and you can override it.
Can I restore a video that filterslop hides?
Yes. Videos removed by filterslop appear in a list at the top of your feed, each with a filtering reason. Choose “Show anyway” to restore a video, or “Not slop” to keep that video from being filtered again on your device. filterslop changes what appears in your feed; it does not delete videos from YouTube.
Can I customize my YouTube filters?
Yes. In filterslop, choose your goals and topics, then add filters in plain English, such as “anything about crypto”. You can adjust filtering strictness, hide YouTube Shorts, set a minimum video length and keep lists of channels to always show or always hide. Choosing topics also removes clearly off-topic videos from your feed.
What is a focus session?
A focus session turns YouTube's distractions off for a set time, from 5 minutes to 4 hours. Block feed, the default, hides the home feed, the suggestions beside and after a video, and Shorts, while search keeps working. Only my topics keeps just the videos about the subjects you choose. Start one from the extension popup and end it whenever you like.
Does filterslop remove videos from YouTube search results?
No. filterslop leaves YouTube search results in place. A result flagged by the filters is dimmed rather than removed, so you can still open it or choose “Not slop”. If you choose to hide Shorts, Shorts shelves are hidden in search too. This differs from the home feed and watch-page recommendations, where filtered videos move into a separate list.
Does filterslop slow down YouTube?
New video checks can add a short delay before thumbnails appear. filterslop covers thumbnails with a grey placeholder while checking them and remembers recent results on your device for up to seven days to avoid repeating the same checks. Check times vary with your connection and the service response.
What YouTube data does filterslop read?
filterslop reads the title, channel, length, view count and available description excerpt of videos on your YouTube screen. It sends those details and your filter settings to its server for checking, and the server fetches each video's public thumbnail from YouTube. The extension does not read your watch history, search history, comments or what you click or watch. Read the privacy policy.
Which browsers and devices does filterslop support?
filterslop works in Google Chrome on desktop at youtube.com. It filters the YouTube home page, Subscriptions, channel pages, recommendations beside a playing video and search results. filterslop does not currently support other browsers, mobile devices or the YouTube mobile and TV apps.
Is there a free trial?
No, but your first payment is fully refundable for 7 days. If filterslop isn't for you, email support@filterslop.lol within 7 days for a full refund. Refund policy.
How much does filterslop cost?
filterslop costs $4.99 per month or $29.99 per year, plus any tax shown at checkout. Both billing options include every feature. The yearly plan is billed as one annual payment, and subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
